Sketch-O-Day #16

Hello guys. I have been spending my holidays in our house here in the province. I have been drooling for something to do for days now. Yet for the mean time, I have been utilizing my vacation watching movies, reading "how-to-read-people's-gesture (a random book I found in my sister's school stuff) and unlimited procrastination in the hammock just listening to the music and wondering what to do the next time I have my digital pen on hand. These are lazy things which have been making my day worthy. Being lazy, I should say, at least for me, is healthy for people of crafts and arts. It gives them time to think, reflect and plan out their next step. This will make room for inspiration and motivation.

And in between my resting, I am able to hang out with my nephew. I suppose the best part of the day. But, my little friend here, should not be underestimated. He has made my ideas for "what-to-do" ran out. Plus, I have to answer limitless questions of why and why not!

Sketch-O-Day #14 A Tough Ride

The bus, bound to my province, would leave in half an hour. It was only one train-ride away. I was assuming the simplicity of the situation. But, the series of events had denied me of it.
First, I had to endure the long wait in the line just to get the train tickets. That was level one difficulty. Second, I had to strengthen myself for a man was desperately shouting that he was robbed and the suspect was running away. My knees was trembling and I was not in any way ready for action. My bag was heavy on my back, not to mention I only had two and a half hours of sleep.  I had to fight my nervousness so I cling tightly to my companion. That was level two. Then, level three. It was a wrong move to ride among men! I thought I was lucky to avoid being pushed and hit by aggressive women on the other line. But, then I was wrong. I forgot that in men's section , it was a lot worse. Yes, men don't squeezed each other nor you could see them bumping their bodies with another. The sad part was that men don't need to fight over. They simply had to strengthen and flexed their muscles like creating an armor around themselves to avoid being crushed. That left me, defenseless. I was the weakest being on that section. I was bumping and being squeezed into their tight offense. I would survive though, if only I was a few more distance from the guy who smelled like sweat dried and tendered by the sun. I hold on tightly to my companion. And tried not to breathe. My clothes was wet from the mixture of my own perspiration and who knows who. I tried to bear with it. It was two more station before I reached my destination. By the last station, the train became looser but, I had to stepped out then.

I raced towards the terminal. I was a minute away before my departure. Level four. I was unfortunately reserved on a bus which happens to be either non-existent or suspended. I failed to confirm. Everything from then on became blurry to my senses. I could have engaged into a heated discussion but I won't and I can't. It was already tough for me. So, I decided to quietly go home and to get a enough sleep. I rescheduled my trip for the next two weeks to come. And I probably will work on with some muscles for the next tough ride on the train!

I thank the person who fought beside me XD
This is one of my most memorable ride on the train because it was literally, a bone-crashing experience. I hope you like my illustration!

Little Boy in the Swing

Hello everyone!

I wanted to share to all how special this illustration to me.

I was really challenged in using watercolor as a medium. I had to push myself because I wanted this done. I promised myself that I would do an illustration for the little girl who got accidentally hit with the iron swing on the back of her head!

She randomly ran below me when I was swaying the swing high.  I had to instantly jump off the swing on mid-air.  I thought I might had cracked her skull or anything.  I panicked for a sec. I could clearly recall her tearful agony. I could survive  her mother's deep blaming stare but not of those helpless child's look. I was really sorry even I did not mean to.

Wheew! So, there it goes. I had to, definitely, do one illustration for that experience.

Despite that, I had to decided to use a little boy in the illustration because I used a little boy's photo as a reference. I thank my friend for that photo which he took on that day. XD

Here's an image of my painting. I hope you like it! Thanks for visiting again.

I was so much dedicated to this illustration. I did many version of it. I did 2 pencil studies before I got to step on the watercoloring stage. Then, after I finished my painting. I decided to ink one of the sketches I did. XD

Here it is:

#13 Sketch-O-Day

There's nothing much happening in this sketch, but I just thought about the best memories of every children. One of those, perhaps, was a simple stroll with a pet at the park or somewhere nice. ^^

#1 On the Spot: Sketch-O-Day

Hey guys! Here are some of the sketches that I did last week, August 31- September 1, 2013, for the Art Mart at Bonifacio Global Center.
I was very fortunate and privilege to have been invited by my colleagues who are great artists themselves. I never expected that I could make all these sketches. Though I was challenged to work at fast pacing, I did enjoy the whole experience because I got to meet many people and most especially, I learned so much. Well, as an artist I realized that the fulfillment is found only when you share your work and be exposed. So the next event I'll work harder! Unexpected things never stop chasing me, and that's a good sign for me.
I want to promote our group, the Artery. Please visit our page, https://www.facebook.com/artery.ph and meet our team! We have many things to share with you.
        Thanks!

Meet Moccasin. Believe it or not but my first client was a rabbit!
A sketch of the my friend's professor in college with his family.

Best friends

Cool Couple

Friends. It took me ten minutes to get this sketching.. so they had to remain post for that whole duration.

Someone's girlfriend. A guy who made me drew his 'yaya'.. Who would make their yaya's photo as wallpaper of their ipod? :D

A Husband and Wife celebrating their anniversary. She's in her early trimester but she asked me to make her belly more obvious...

Jillian. The little girl on a stroller. She was very enthusiastic.

A Mother and a Daughter.

The Triplets. The most interesting sketch I did. The babies came riding their strollers that connected from each other-almost like a train.
Happy Moment.

#12 Sketch-O-Day

I went out today and soaked my feet in the flood. I have to pull all the courage to get myself into the water. Lucky, I was with my other friends whom I shared the unforgettable and spontaneous experience.

Adventure Is Out There.

Homeless Kitten

The homeless cat by the escalator. ~My heart melted when I saw the kitten unmindful of the heavy rain and the people passing by.

#11 Sketch-O-Day

It's been two weeks since I had posted here. I have been busy with a lot of happy unexpected things. Even the rain gave me colds and a lot of sneezing, I cannot help but to love it still. Rain gives a nostalgic feeling and brings me to many happy childhood memories. Like, me and my friends spent time playing football and "Patintero", a known Filipino traditional game. We also went out for adventures under the rain. During those days, we did not care catching fever afterwards because it we had fun.  In our family, rainy seasons were the best time to go randomly to the beach just to  enjoy the cool breeze. And now, I like recalling them.

Today, I am still that child who wants to play football. I feel like going out the streets for some spontaneous adventures . And probably, I will get my feet feel the cold water.

I wonder what movie perfectly matches my mood.. Oh well, I'll be watching one this afternoon. :)

Thanks for the visit again.

A Lion and A Boy

Basically, the message of my sketch is the complacent silence between individuals no matter how dangerous or vulnerable the other one is--even a predator and its supposedly prey, such the case in my illustration.  The boy does not need to end being the lion's meal nor the lion becomes the boy's safe den against other wild animals.  Just for that moment, the lion and the boy both need to coexist in the same turf, if they want to benefit both in warmth of the fire.

A Furry Tail

This illustration was inspired by the Studio Ghibli's, "Princess Mononoke" animated movie. An idea came to me yesterday, when I saw an image of a red fox. Foxes' have these impression of being mystical and enchanting. They are known to be sly and tricky.  But what if a fox such as huge as this one can be tamed and be loyal to someone-let's say a girl named, Harrieth, a girl from a nearby tribe. A story can begin even from a small idea such as this. I can't wait to see this colored someday.

So, I spent my spare hours at the office working on this sketch. :D

Chimney

An enchanted girl, Chimney jumped around the vast forest with a magical staff. That's how far I know about her. I hope to do a detailed yet brief background story for Chimney later.

I started roughing in the details here in the image on the left. Then, I cleaned up the line, on the right. I look forward in rendering this illustration in full color but, I am taking slow in figuring out the style. I am in the process of learning how to play with colors and values.

I hope sooooon : D Thanks guys!

#10 Sketch-O-Day

Laundry and Mike's Bathing Time. I imagined washing my stuffed pillow--Mike Wazowski, struggling as I soak it in the pail.

A Place Where Lilies Bloom

Hello everyone! I just thought about doing a sketch of a girl riding a boat. This sketch has a lot of meaning to me. Lately, I felt like that my life is like a ride on a boat. Most times, a boat ride can stay still without moving; sometimes, it can go pass a strong current where it would shake its passenger. But, I know whatever happens, a boat can take you somewhere--beautiful. Just, trust the current and go with the flow (given you know how to go back, of course) Like this girl, she was taken into a place where lilies bloom and beautiful unexpected things happen.

Lilies, I love them.

Illustration for Fifty Letters in Between

This is for the short story, Fifty Letters in Between, that I wrote a couple of weeks ago. The scene shows Rah-an reading a letter from his mother. It was signed with the familiar loop of handwriting. The name was very precious to him.

You can visit my writing stuff blog here : http://nuttacuppahtea.blogspot.com/2013/06/fifty-letters-in-between.html.

Thank you.

Mouse

I cannot forget the night when I was on my way home that huge rat peeking behind a crate. So disgusting. Its fur was untidy, wet, and balding. Its skin was almost visible underneath the fur. In the sketch, I placed a coin to indicate how big it was. It gave me the creeps!

A Happy Birthday to Me!

I woke up early this morning and I thought its better to start the day by making the room clean and fresh. After that, I was ready to read all the greetings everyone had been sending on my facebook. I have expressed my sincere gratitude to those people who are my friends and family through this simple sketch me hugging Mr. Mike Wazowski.

Just simple those greetings makes me feel happy for this day. Thanks a lot!

A happy day with Mike.

I just finished a book

Oh hi! This is another sketch from me. In this sketch, I expressed how I liked a book which I have just read. The book was the third out of the nine Edge Chronicle series, the Midnight Over Sanctaphrax.
That moment when your down to the last ten pages your imagination bursts with the wind until then suddenly your at the last flip already, makes a book worth reading for.

A Clumsy Ride

She has always been the one to arrive at school and adventures, first-- that's good. But, don't expect her to come unscratched for she might have been through something-like a clumsy ride in a scooter.

Sketch-o-day #01

Lately, I have been doing these sketches portraying my feeling in a certain day. I have fun doing each of them and that, I plan to make more sketches as long as I can.

I can't sleep.
I was extremely sad on the day I drew this one.

Me, Myself and I. I was feeling happy in the particularly day I made this.

Nothing could beat than a relaxing weekend of watching of  a favorite movie--with Mike Wazowski.

I don't have an umbrella so I took a risk of running out in the open, drenched in  the cold rain.
