I conceptualized her from the idea of "lights out, life's in". Li-li is basically nocturnal. She's dull during the day but super energetic during night time.
Took me awhile to finish her because I could not get the design at first. Resting and taking a day off really helps to get my mood back. :)
For this character and my previous girl, Fang.. I started doing several rough sketches, then put on flat colors to test out what will work and finally, I rendered it with shading...
